Intro

This is a list of some of the On-line metronomes and some of the other Desktop Metronomes for Windows available just now. I've listed some of the salient features of each one.

It's not a review. Some of these metronomes are good, some aren't so good, and I haven't rated them.

If you want a flexible free metronome to play odd time signatures, then the Wierd Metronome might be your best bet, it is a widely used metronome. Simple interface but if you want odd time signatures and don't need the visuals of BM Pro - then may be pretty useful.

Listed in no particular order. Also, I've probably left out some metronomes. If you want your metronome added let me know.

I haven't listed mobile phone metronomes either. Try a google search for "mobile phone metronome". I haven't tested these. BTW intend to work on a mobile app for BM Pro but at present this is just an idea for the future.

However one of the mobile phone metronomes is worth particular mention - not for its feature set or usability particularly - doesn't get particularly good reviews at present - but just because it is the only other metronome I know of with any attempt at conducting visuals (apart from BM Pro itself and possibly some early mechanical metronomes). It's called Metronome 3D. For videos, search Youtube for "Metronome 3D".

Desktop metronomes for Windows

These are all stand alone metronomes. I've left out metronomes that are a minor feature of a larger program. But I can add those types of metronomes as well if you know of any that are especially notable.

Professional Metronome - Shareware

Features: song editor, bar and beat counter, VST plugin, network synchronisation, skinnable, change midi instruments, bounce visuals

This is the only other metronome I know of that has a bouncing ball display with bounce under simulated gravity - so ball moves faster at the bottom of the bounce. There are many that have lights or a ball that move up and down at constant speed, but this is the only other one I know with a gravity bounce.
